Wanted: Small (Exotic) rodents

Postby ForeverHams on 2010. Jan 12., Tue 17:17

Hi All,

I am after the following small rodents

Steppe lemmings
Guenthers Voles

And Spiny Mice .. will need pictures in advance to confirm species.
Acomys russatus - Golden Spiny mouse
Acomys dimidiatus - Arabian Spiny Mouse (these are the common ones)
Acomys cahirinus - The black coloured species is the one im after .. the scientific name of it is very confusing .. any clarification on that would be helpful too

These species are the ones i am definitely after, but would also be interested in Other sub species and other small rodent species... just depends what you have.

If you have some or know someone who does point them in my direction please.

Based near portsmouth but could collect within reason, alternatively i can arrange a courier.

Cheers

Alex

Now I believe that Guenther's Voles are also known as mediterranean lemmings? Is that correct? If so Simons Rodents have them at £15 each this week, if you know somebody near you who deals with them?

Regards,

Martin

Yeah, he always has them but i'd rather not have any from him to be honest... would rather go to a breeder after previous experience. He also has steppe lemmings at £20 a piece which is pretty pricey and thats not inclusive of VAT.

Other than those and a few other bits and bobs, he doesnt have much in the way of small exotics at the moment.

PS: i have found all the species of spiny mice now (except Acomys russatus), but would be intrested in unrelated stock if anyone has any ect.

Hi,

had 7 young pygmy dormice arrive yesterday form several unrelated lines so im pretty sorted with those and the existing dormcie i already had.

also got some lemmings coming in march, but might be interested in unrelated animals at a later date.

to be honest im looking to get anything else in until later on in march as im pretty much sorted with what i want, got laods of spare cages so im not going to pretend it isnt tempting, got hardly any animals in comparison to previous numbers, had a lot of the hamsters go, and lost several older animals in past few months :( .... if there is anything really interesting and unusual pop up i probably wont be able to resist though.
